Lily Bisson
Lily Bisson has a 20 year lifetime commitment to community service and a lifelong passion and love of all things equine. After college she joined AmeriCorps, an independent agency of the United States government that engages more than five million Americans in public service. She helped to provide service to victims of Hurricane Katrina, volunteering for more than a year in New Orleans. She has been employed at the National Institutes of Health for 15 years where she is passionate about engaging and connecting staff to medical science and believes deeply in the mission of improving global health through scientific discovery. Lily’s passion for horses is well known; she is an avid foxhunter with clubs in Maryland, an amateur eventer in local venues, and owns a horse farm in Clarksburg, MD. Lily was diagnosed at 40 with breast cancer during her first routine mammogram.

Mary Kruger
Mary Kruger obtained her BS in Animal Science from Virginia Tech and MS in public policy from UMD. She has been riding, training and competing her whole life and these days enjoys fox hunting, trail riding, and is an amateur eventer. She has a large family and recently retired after a successful career serving as a senior executive in the federal government, focusing on National Security. She is a grateful 15-yeare breast cancer survivor.

Krista E. Estell, DVM
Krista is a Maryland native who grew up riding hunters, but enjoys all riding disciplines. She received her veterinary degree from the VA-MD College of Veterinary Medicine, and was fortunate to be selected for an internship in Ocala, Florida and an internal medicine residency at the University of California Davis. During her residency she developed a strong interest in oncology, and in her role as Clinical Associate Professor at Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center, strives to deliver the highest level of diagnostics and care for her patients. As a veterinarian, she has talked horse owners through the options for managing cancer in their horses, and she has been struck by how many women have been able to draw parallels to their own cancer diagnosis. In her position she has been told by these women that their horses have been their strength and their solace when dealing with their cancer treatment. She is very thankful to have the opportunity to help support horsewomen to keep their horses cared for so they can focus on their health.

Jackie Bell, Esq
Jackie is a Virginia native who grew up riding in Virginia hunt country and developed her love for horses at an early age. Jackie galloped horses at the local racetrack for several years so she has a special love for OTTBs and starting horses correctly and with empathy. She transitioned to eventing and dressage and now runs a boarding, breeding and training farm in Keswick, VA, Jackie was a vet tech for nearly a decade and has a special interest in rehabs and veterinary medicine. Jackie went to George Mason University where she obtained her B.S. in Psychology and then continued on to graduate from University of Virginia School of Law. She currently works as Counsel for Troutman Pepper. Jackie volunteers with local humane societies and animal shelters to try to help improve adoption rates and reduce euthanasia rates at local Central Virginia shelters. In her free time, Jackie enjoys taking advantage of the outdoors and the many hiking locations in Central Virginia, travelling, checking out new restaurants and breweries/wineries. Jackie has had a number of friends diagnosed with breast cancer and would like to help spread awareness and support women currently undergoing treatment and for survivors.
